Guarding Angel is not a replacement for emergency services. In an emergency, always call 112 (911 in the US) or your local emergency number first.

1. Parties

These terms are between you and Alex Fitterling, Wöhrder Kreuzgasse 8, 90489 Nürnberg, Germany (“we”). They cover the Guarding Angel iOS app and the website guardingangel.app. The agreement is with us only, not with Apple Inc.; Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.

2. The service

Guarding Angel helps you reach the people you trust: share your location once, send an “I’m okay”, start an end-to-end encrypted live beacon, and use “Hold for help” to alert your circle by text and FaceTime. The website offers a web account that lets signed-in people watch live beacons.

The app and the website are free. There are no subscriptions and no in-app purchases.

3. No guarantee of delivery

Texts and FaceTime calls go through Apple’s and your carrier’s services; iOS requires a tap on “Send” for every text. Live beacons need an internet connection, location permission and our servers. We work to keep everything reliable, but we cannot guarantee that messages, calls or positions always arrive, completely or in time.

4. Licence

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store usage rules. You may not rent, resell, decompile or modify the app except where the law expressly allows it.

5. Acceptable use

  • You must be at least 16 years old, or have a parent’s consent.
  • Share only your own location. Don’t use Guarding Angel to follow anyone without their knowledge.
  • Only add contact details you are allowed to use for this.
  • Misusing the alert features, spam, or attacks on our systems are not allowed.

Report abuse through the support form. We may suspend a web account or end beacons that break these rules.

6. Maintenance and support

We alone — not Apple — are responsible for maintenance and support. Reach us at guardingangel.app/support.

7. Warranty and claims

Your statutory rights apply. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, which will refund any purchase price (the app is free) and has no other warranty obligation. We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims relating to the app — including product liability, failure to meet consumer-protection or other legal requirements, and third-party intellectual-property claims.

8. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are liable only for breaches of essential obligations that make using the service possible at all, limited to the foreseeable, typical damage. Otherwise liability is excluded.

9. Apple as third-party beneficiary

Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you once you accept them. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US government embargo and are not on any US government list of restricted parties.

10. Privacy

How we handle data is described in the privacy notice, which takes precedence over these terms on privacy matters.

11. Changes, law, contact
